Eduard Klena
in a plain sight
I have spent the first month of my master studies in Ukraine - art residence. Observed the space around Ternopilska oblast while staying in a village Travneve near one marquant city Ternopil and after that I moved straight to the capital - Kyiv. In my winter term work I have focused mainly on architectural divide between societal classes which are quite visible. While doing that I used a blue pen and black marker to sketch banal and plain normal daily situations I have encountered in Kyiv, having a normal metropolitan life. When you follow the installation from left to the right you might find a transition from banal and slightly boring into obscure, mysterious, maybe quite questionable situations. And those follow the local political and societal change from Maidan revolution era where one has to look and uncover that this gargantuan size country - compared to Slovakia might look alike us but there is something else going on and it is hidden. Hidden in a plain sight.
